Thread?

While I have it on my mind, I have a question:  Anyone know of variegated threads which do not take forever to get from one color to the next?  I know I read something somewhere about LizBeth shortening the length between colors, but I'm curious....  With my birthday coming, I plan on getting some supplies since I'll *gasp* have a little money (I doubt that; by that time, I'm sure any money I get will be needed for a bill, but a girl can dream, can't she?).  I also need to really decide if I like 20 or 40 better, but I think it depends on what I'm doing....

Tentative list (so I don't forget):

  • Notebooks (hey; it's back to school time and supplies get cheap... It's the one perk to having your birthday around Labor Day, LOL.... A "writer's" dream!
  • Pens/Pencils (even though I have a million and one, I always need more).
  • Glue
  • More Tatting needles (so I can go ahead and bend them to the comfort of my hand via hours of tatting, LOL).
  • More tatting thread; especially variegated threads.
  • Black tatting thread --it's a must and I'm getting fearful on my stock! LOL.
  • Green threads --sure, I'm not fond of the color, but I can't make flowers without stems and leaves forever, can I?
  • One of them there plastic boxes to organize threads that are on the classic cardboard/plastic flat spools... (My mom is using one for beads that I used for beads when I was probably 6 or 7. LOL.  It has my name written on it, fading, and she's not givin' it up. LOL.)
  • Cardstock.
  • Maybe a metal bookmark or two to adding tatting to?
Yeah, pretty sure that list is way above any amount of money I'll obtain, but, oh well... I'll put on my frugal hat and make it work! LOL.

So, after all that, here's a question:  As a tatter, what's your thread preference?  Do you have an absolute favorite?

That is so funny! My birthday is coming up too and my hubby was just thinking that I could have some money and I have been going over all the things I would like to get(tatting supplies top the list) and I am trying to prioritize that list(extremely hard when you want so much!!!), and yet, I wonder if I will really have the money......(don't you wish you were a kid so that there are no real responibilities to spend your money on? :D )
Happy Birthday early!!!! Hopefully you will have some money to get something you would like to have. :)

Happy birthday to you as well! Hubby's grandma always gives us each $100 (Hubby's birthday is 12 days before mine, LOL), so he's pretty resolute on me being able to have it this year, but who knows... I'd rather not starve or be sitting in the dark, LOL. I think he feels bad since there's no way he'll be getting me anything, so he doesn't want to take that away from me. I've been good in this broke time and not asked for anything other than my cigarettes, LOL --and a pair of sneakers since they were on clearance for $10 from $30 and they've got those rounded bottoms that keep my knees from bothering me too much... :-) When I ordered my original tatting supplies, we were in VERY good shape and then it all fell apart and we had to move, etc... if it weren't for the kindness of a woman on intatters.com, I would be completely through my tatting threads and be unable to do anything more --her generosity has kept the tatting alive! :-D

I DEFINITELY wish to be a kid again when it comes to my birthday --I got much more money and could just blow it on anything --Heaven! LOL. Wait... maybe not... My birthday is September 3 and, every few years, it meant starting school on my birthday! LOL. Not good.

I hope that you have a wonderful birthday!!! And I REALLY hope you get at least those top things on your list! Remember: Shop around and search for coupon codes! I'm sure you know, but it never hurts to hear it again. ;-) As far as needles (not sure which tatting you do), though, I think be-stitchedstore.com may be the cheapest --and the holes seem to be a bit bigger than those (that I believe are) from Handy Hands. :-) If you find a good deal on anything, let me know! --I'll be sure to do the same! :-) Thank you!

I've used three of the Lizbeth variegated threads and the length of colors varied. There are pictures on my blog. Jelly Bean is in the August 11 post. The top bookmark in the June 30 post is a Lizbeth, but I can't remember the color name. The variegated reds is featured in my June 5 post. The reds had the longest stretches of color while the Jelly Bean had the shortest of these three. You might want to consider some of the hand dyed threads available.
